I love the headjoint, It is really capable of beautiful sound. It is new and my teacher and I discuseed that not all are exactly the same since its a rather new...

What are your thoughts on the Schubert Variations? I'm playing it for some upcoming masterclasses and I was wanting to kill two birds with one stone. lol :P I don't know if that's overplayed though for auditions- I want to avoid that if possible. =]

Re: I've noticed...

If it's not my imagination, I've also noticed differences when different people play the same instrument too. I wasn interested in the Maramatsu but heard someone play one & it sounded terrible, airy & strained to me so perhaps I made a hasty judgement call just by listening to that one person. The...

Relaxing

So one of my biggest problems when I play is relaxing. More specifically my throat is probably the worst of it- it leads to vocalization sometimes :( I'm getting really frustrated because the WORST part is sometimes I can't hear myself doing it- which is another big problem. I can't afford to see a ...

In California, we have several all state bands- there is one run by CBDA, Cal Poly, and a northern section also- if anyone knows for sure please correct me!] but in CBDA they take the top 8 best flutists and then the bottom 12 or so are from schools who submit the most tapes...so those from podunkvi...

Audition Repetoire

Is there anyone who recommends any particular contrasting pieces for a college audition that are not very common but would still be effective?
