I'm glad I've found this thread. I'm going to perform this recital and have been trying to research information about the peice and why/what inspired it but I havn't been able to find anything. I was hoping someone knew? I have this this interpretation in my head, I was wondering how similar it was :P

I bought it through my teacher who actually helped designed it. For me upgrading to it from a CY cut [blahhhh] REALLY helped my projection. I love the headjoint, It is really capable of beautiful sound. It is new and my teacher and I discuseed that not all are exactly the same since its a rather new...

So does anyone know of any good concerto competitions open to everyone in california? I tried googling it, but I gave up because I just got a bunch of ones who are open to only counties and what not. The only one that I know right now are the NFA competitions but I can't really afford to travel out ...

In California, we have several all state bands- there is one run by CBDA, Cal Poly, and a northern section also- if anyone knows for sure please correct me!] but in CBDA they take the top 8 best flutists and then the bottom 12 or so are from schools who submit the most tapes...so those from podunkvi...
