Re: Teeth
Dear Wakchiko, In your situation, you may wish to consider the following: 1. A resin-bonded retainer or "Maryland" bridge. Developed in the 1970's at the University of Maryland. This is a replacement tooth (pontic) with metal wings on it . The metal wings are resin-bonded to the adjacent , undamaged...

Re: Teeth
Hi you guys, I am a flute playing, certified dental technologist with 37 years in the dental industry. It is impossible to generalize about removable dentures and blowing a flute. Typically a denture patient loses the alveolar bone over time. (This is the horseshoe shaped bone onto which the denture...

Re: Yamaha YFL 421 vs Gemeinhardt 2S
Hello again,
Phineas,
I am finding out that the yfl 514 is apparently discontinued. Do you know of any local resources?? Why did you replace yours? Do you know of something comparable with the same design features?
Thanks,
Doc

Re: Yamaha YFL 421 vs Gemeinhardt 2S
Arlee and Phineas, Thank You both for your responses. So Phineas, your opinion is to bypass the intermediate level of Yamaha Flutes (YFL 4XX) and go from my M-2 Gemmy right to the 500 series entry level Pro ? The 514 looks like my current configuration + the split E. The Body and foot are not solid ...

Yamaha YFL 421 vs Gemeinhardt 2S
Hi, I thought I would try to get some feed back with regard to the Yamaha YFL 421 vs the Gemeinhardt 2s which appear to have the same general features only the Yamaha is close to $500.00 more in price. I have been using a Gemeinhardt m-2 .(bought it new in 1974). It has served me rather well as the ...

Signal Processors for Flute
Anybody have anything exciting to share with regard to electronic foot pedal type signal processors like the guitar players use??? Tim Fogelberg has an elaborate set-up with extensive loops that he could actually jam to. I'd like to find a miniature version of something like that. Any Ideas?? Doc

Creativity Block
Any tips on how to avert creative block? Practicing while tired, or while knowing I only have very small amount of time. I am trying to bring back some skills from years ago when I played every day at band rehearsals and gigs. I need toget my chops together in short order after having not playing fo...
