Thanks so much this really helped!!! As for using grease when I assemble the flute; no I don't.

My bottom joint is loose and keeps falling off. How can I fix it? I'm in marching band so every time they say "band horns up" you have to bring up your flute in one sharp move. Every time I do the bottom joint will either slip a little or fall of completely. Obviously this causes many other problems...
