I know this is an old post, & the original poster may have solved their problem, but thought I'd mention trying a desktop music stand, if you are having trouble with a regular floor standing one.

Just found & ordered a Tony Dixon aluminium key of 'D' duo, (1:1 Music/£29.95), I wasn't going to purchase any more instruments, as I have enough, but thought at that price.... 
(Presently I'm using a TD Trad brass 'D' piccolo to play & improve my embouchure.)
