switching to a double-reed

Post by LizS »

About four months ago I switched to oboe, but
I''m still taking flute lessons. My teacher says that this will ruin my sound
and technique. So far, I haven''t had any problems and am doing quite well on
both instruments. Will playing another instrument really ruin my embouchure?

it could potentially mess you up if you play
both of them at the same time. i tried playing the oboe once, but it was only
for a few days and i was just trying it out for fun. i think the embouchures are
different for each instrument, so it would take some adjustment between them. if
the transition is easy for you, i'd say it shouldn't be a problem for you..
but i don't have very much experience so my guess is as good as anybody
else's.
