French Model Flute Tricks

Post by Aessina »

SO! Here goes.

Band this year is incredibly boring. Boring conductor, easy music. I need something to do/practice during the half of practice where the conductor is out of the room, doing some undisclosed activity. Things like sliding from one pitch to another like violins and trombones, strange notes, and generally cool sounding things you can only do with an open-holed flute. Other tricks that dont require a french model flute are greatly welcome. Thankees!

You probably want to look into extended techniques for flute. Some require open holes, some do not. These links should help get you started.

And no discussion of extended flute techniques would be complete without a mention of Robert Dick who has pioneered many of these.
