CMU Pre-College Program

Post by naflute10 »

Has anyone heard anything about this program? I am looking to apply, but it is rather expensive, and I want to be sure that it is a good program before I spend the money.

Here is the link to the website:

Thank you!

Seeing as how Carnegie Mellon is hard to get into in almost every respect [academically and musically], I would say that it is probably a very demanding and rigorous program. Even though this is a Pre-College program, I would say that the standards and expectations are exactly [or close to] the same. Jeanne Baxtresser is the flute professor at Carnegie Mellon, and even though there are other part time flute teachers there as well, there is the chance that you would be studying with her. She is one of the most sought after teachers in the world at the moment. So that should say a thing or two about the flute program there.

Good luck! If you can afford it, AND can get in, it would probably be worth every bit of it.
