Asking the same question...again

Post by lula »

Sorry guys, I know you're tired of this question but the next marching season will be here before we know it and I feel the need to ask again: How can I get more people, high schoolers particularly, involved in band. Our main needs are percussion, trombones, clarinets, mellophone, and maybe another alto sax players. Does anyone know how I can help recruit new members before the season gets close to starting?

:? Maybe we could hold an assembly and the band could play a few songs to showcase the music that we are playing for this concert season. Any and all ideas would be greatly appreiated. I don't think I'll see the numbers rise while I'm attending high school, but I'd like to leave growing numbers behind for the other members.

I understand that quality is better than quantity, but I'd like to get some people excited about the arts.

Thanks again as always and hope to hear from everyone soon.

What they do at my middle school is that we get a group of band kids together at the end of the year and then we go to the elementry schools and play for the 5th players. They usually get all excited about it and want to join.
Maybe you can play a really cool song or something.
