Oboe

Post by FluterJenn »

Just wondering if anyone else has learned how to play oboe and has
any beginning suggestions. I got an oboe today with the Rubank Elementary Oboe
Book, so far I think I''m doing ok but not too sure. My top lip hurts at the
moment after playing for about 45 minutes. Is that bad?? Any suggestions and
help would be great. Thanks. Jenn p.s. I know this is a flute board, but I
can''t seem to find any place on the web that can help me. I figured that at
least one or two of you have played oboe.

Well I play the flute. And last year for concert band I switched to play the oboe since we didn't have one and we really needed one for all these solos in the pieces we were playing. I played it for about a year and when i first started out i couldn't play long without getting hurting also. You just need to keep on practicing and you will build up to be able to play longer. Just make sure your mouth is positioned right. I miss playing it.

Go to www.8notes.com, they have an oboe forum.
