Re: Introductions
Hello, my name is Rich, and I'm getting back to playing after probably 25 years. I took it up as a hobby, but life got in the way and the flute gathered dust (and tarnish). I took lessons for a couple of years and got to the level of advanced beginner. Recently I dusted off my Olds student flute, and have been relearning everything I'd forgotten. Embouchure, fingering, and reading all very rusty but coming back. I'm hoping to be able to get enough from the site to get it all back and continue from there. Music is a skill that is very good for both your brain and your soul, especially as you get older. And it makes you appreciate what a good performer had to go through.
I was inspired by such virtuosi as Galway, Rampal, Hubert Laws, Ian Anderson, and Matt Molloy.

Re: Introductions
Hello Everyone!
My name is John and I'm from Massachusetts. I started playing flute way back in grade school in 1972 and played right through high school. While all others were playing in their garages and dreaming of becoming the next big rock group, a bunch of my buddies and I formed a G.B. and played the wedding/VFW/Ground Round circuit, all at the tender age of 16 (Moon River, Tangerine, etc... of course, the Hustle...lol). I picked up an alto sax and soprano sax along the way. Of course when we graduated HS, we all scattered, I went out and got a 9 to 5'r, and put the horns away.
Fast forward to the present, I'm now 50, playing on a Sonare (the reeds are staying in the closet), struggling to make out the margin notes scribbled on my tattered T&G, reviewing and reliving, searching for my embouchure, articulation, etc. and having a blast doing it all over again.
