Preparing ahead for college auditions...

Post by lula »

So when I return to high school, it will thankfully be for the last year. Yay! I'm a senior. :D

I'm not sold on the whole college deal, but I'd like to try out for a few colleges. :?

Each college says to have all 12 scales 2-3 octaves memorized, chromatic full-range and 2 contrasting pieces demonstrating musical flexibility. Does anyone have any ideas on 2 tryout pieces that aren't extremely out of this world, but beautiful? I'd like to begin as soon as possible.

I'm more interested in marching band than concert band. The colleges that I am looking at are: University of Tennessee - Knoxville, Tusculum College, and University of Tennessee - Chattanooga. If any of you all have tried out here, please explain the audition process and difficulty of being accepted into the program. Thank you! :)
