F;ute Choir Help

Post by Sneeble »

I live in the NYC area and have been playing flute for over 20 years. I'm interested in finding a fun, non-competitive flute choir to join. Though I practice sometimes, I'm busy with my dayjob (I write for a magazine), so I'm not as on top of things as I'd like. I used to be very advanced, but I'm admittedly rusty. I've looked up some choirs, but being in NYC, they're all very competitive. Being that playing flute is just something I do as a hobby now, I really don't want to have to deal with the stress of competing (believe me, I did that all through high school and college). Does anyone know of a choir I can join that basically accepts anyone? Where would I look to find out? Thanks.

Hi Sneeble,

From the description they give, it seems the New York Flute Club has a program where they match up flutists of similar playing levels and create informal ensembles:

Hope this helps!
