Festival Music

Post by amourdelaflute »

My band just got our music for next year at Festival. We are playing Helios, American Faces, and Incidental Suite. The fingerings in American Faces are so difficult to play. Does anyone know alternate fingerings for B4 and C4 to make playing it any easier?

Aside fron using harmonics there really aren't any that would be a lot easier, and the harmonics are very difficult to get reliably in that extreme a range. I strongly recommend you use the standard fingerings. If you would still like to play with alternate fingerings, there is a good chart of alternate fingerings at www.wfg.woodwind.org that you should look at. With a little third redister scale practice, these fingerings become much easier and more natural, and in context, those runs really aren't too difficult to play.
