Bass flutes

Post by becca and her flute x x »

Hey, I already play wooden flute and a 'normal' flute and I am looking into bass flutes and I was wondering if anyone has any advice/ideas that they want to share, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Somewhere there is a thread entitled FAQ But not the FAQ you see at the top of the message board. do a search for FAQ and it should pull it up.

It is a frequently asked questions thread. You can learn a lot from there about flutes and purchasing in general [ often what is applicable to one kind of flute is applicable to almost all flutes].

If you have any specific questions, just ask and we will answer if possible. But, basically, try before you buy, and make sure that you are happy with your purchase. Avoid knock-off imports.

There are some great "big" flutes (Bb flute d'amour and lower) available, but my personal favorites come from Yamaha and Altus. If you're looking for something a little less expensive, Jupiter makes some good altos and basses for much less than other companies. Most makers can produce basses, but some will cost more than others. Avoid off-brand instruments, and shop around (making sure to play test potential purchases) and you should be fine.

The Jupiter DiMedici bass is very good for its price (about half of most others).
