Difference between opened and closed keys

Post by phovis »

Hello. I'm thinking of buying a new flute, so I would like to know, if there is a big difference between flute with opened and flute with closed keys. Right now I'm using with closed.

The Fluteland FAQ has lots of information about different levels of flutes, brands, and yes, open vs. closed holes. Check it out here:

For most players? Sound wise ......none Reach and key configuration may have a factor with hand position and covering the holes. This may affect dexterity.

In the end, it is all about what you play well. Flutes are made for the player, not the listener. Always remember that.
