If that's your budget, you shouldn't have any problems buying practically whatever you see that you like and play well on.

i still dont understand why they didnt just alter what is seen on the page and make all instruments in C. Like for a trumpet their C is concert Bb.... well why not alter what fingering on the chart & staff to be Bb?? wouldnt it make life so much easier? lol imagine nobody having to ever transpose.....

Are you sure that you were playing the right note to tune with? Many tuners probably expect a C to be a concert Bb, or another similar change. I think you should double check that possibility. Also, it could be your computer's microphone that is the problem. You can't rule out things other than the ...

I used to foot-tap, but it just stopped somehow. Now I'm just able to count in my head as I play. I'm not recommending anybody to attempt to learn foot-tapping; It's extremely annoying for other performers and the audience. I once went to a concert in which one performer was constantly swaying from ...

I'm not sure about their really old stuff, but Armstrong's current 100 series (102, 103, 104...) is their beginner line. I'm pretty sure that they're all silver plated flutes, so the headjoint might be aftermarket. As to the actual quality of the flute, I currently play on an Armstrong 104, and I ca...

I thought that higher notes were supposed to be blown more up on, although you could be meaning relative to the note being played.

I would suppose that any decent college-- with a music program-- would have sufficient support in terms of quality teaching staff for each instrument. The Japanese minor should not be hard to come by, as it is a fairly common language. Be glad that you're not trying to double major in Therapeutic Ne...

Yet Phineas' other flute is also "good" enough to earn money, which by your your definition would thus make it professional. The question here would be whether it is use or quality that determine professionalism.

Is it a place you can reach with a cotton swab? Watch out for forcing anything into small areas and bending the key mechanisms but I use them to clean in some small areas that I can't reach with a wiping rag. I can get some areas with this, but others just can't be reached. I don't really care abou...

The only time I would use the second finger for F# would be if my third finger had a serious cramp and nobody in the audience was looking. I know the third finger is a little more troublesome (a.k.a. not lazy lol) but just get to the point where you are comfortable playing F# with it, and then it w...

I liked life more before I knew that the third finger was the better fingering. As a clarinet player, I was rather irked that there was yet another deviation from the fingering comparisons that I had derived from my other instrument.

Hence the reason why every year, I have at least one beginner who comes to me with a new flute from Wal-Mart :? But they're cheap! Isn't there some sort of international music affiliation that could endorse reputable companies? That would eliminate the ability of the rip-off brands to say al...

 I never realized how common it is. At a forum I used to be extremely involved with, I just checked the memberlist. Out of around 6500 people, around 2500 don't have any posts. I guess it's just more obvious here due to the overall lack of activity. While the site is somewhat active, it is no...

Nonexistant Members

What's with all the people here who have never posted? The number (according to the memberlist) is 1101. That's around half the total population of this site! Beyond that, there is a total of 2177 members who only have 24 or less posts. Are you automatically registered on the forum here when you sig...

Yeah, I was thinking the other way around. in that case, it would be raised normally and depress when pressed.

I guess you're right about the balance point thing.
