"Catch"? Meaning no sound comes out at all, or you get a bit of the second octave before hitting the right pitch, or something else entirely?
For a split second, no sound comes out at all.

Trouble with high E

Every time I play high E, there is some sort of "catch" before the tone comes out. All of the rest of my high notes are fine, it's just the E that is doing this.

Any suggestions?

I have a Zoom H2 Handy Recorder that I love. It has amazing sound quality. I think I paid about 200ish for it, so I dont know if that is in your price range or not.

If I hear a song on the radio once, a week later I will be able to sing it starting on the right pitch. I dont know what note name the pitch is (say a C of a G) I just hear the right tone in my head.

Is this just a weird form of perfect pitch? Maybe just good tone memory?

a question

Every time I play the flute, I get two little dimples on either side of my mouth. I've never seen any other flute player get these. Is this normal? Is it just the way my mouth is shaped? I'm fairly new to the flute, and I don't want to get any bad habits right off the bat, so any answers would be ap...
