Re: When is a flute 'too old'?

Yes, I have noticed this also for other instruments. With time our ears and our skills get better and we notice problems or deficiencies we did not notice before. We should regard this as an opportunity to improve of course. Some people become a bit depressed and think they are getting worse, some e...

It is never too late if you have a real passion!

Re: When is a flute 'too old'?

It also depends on the quality of the flute. A good flute will last for decades; a bad flute will not, but the real problem is quality, not age.

I think it is usually better to stay away from unknown brands on ebay, in particular with musical instruments and electronics...

Re: Didgeridoo

Thanks, yes, I did find some Youtube lessons.
My didgeridoo is pretty small, so not as powerful as big didgeridoos, but it is a real didgeridoo with real Aboriginal paintings. I saw it at a sale while on holiday and could not resist the temptation to buy it. :)

Didgeridoo

Does anyone here play the didgeridoo? I bought a relatively small one on holiday last week. I only tried to play it once, but it doesn't seem to be very easy to produce a nice sound at the beginning.
Do you know of any really good site that teaches you how to play the didgeridoo?
Thanks! 8)

For beginners a flute with closed holes is usually easier to play.

Re: Travelling with the flute

Yes, I have heard of similar cases too (where they open the case upside down)! Better do it myself!

Travelling with the flute

Hi,

I was just wondering if you ever had problems boarding an airplane with the flute, in particular because of the cleaning rod?

Thanks. :)

Re: No notes playing from new Trevor James - help!

I agree with pied_piper. When I first read the title of the thread I thought maybe it's a newbie, but if you are good enough to teach, obviously there is a problem with the flute.

Re: Maybe it's the weather?

Yes, I have noticed that extreme temperatures can affect the flute as well as other instruments. It happened to me more than once for example that during sudden overnight temperatures changes a string of my guitar broke completely by itself. Not to mention piano hammers that get sluggish with too mu...

Re: When is a flute 'too old'?

A flute gets old when it is not properly/regularly serviced or maintained, but if you do regularly have it serviced it will be fine for decades. I would advise you to so so ASAP and you will notice the difference!

So they do go away by themselves, but it takes a long time. I had mine for probably a year or even longer, although as I said it got smaller.
