Is it very difficult to learn to play the alto flute going from a C flute? Does it need a lot more air?

Looking for suggestions

I play a Boehm flute, closed hole, C foot. But I only play Irish Traditional so no vibrato and almost no tonguing. I would use a keyless flute but I hate all the cross fingering with their muffled notes. I've never had a lesson because I don't know where to look for a teacher. I've seen and heard a ...

Looking for a particular model of flute

I am looking for a particular kind of flute to buy. It is no longer manufactured. I've tried an ad in usedflutes without result. Might it be OK to ask on this board or would that be using the site in a way contrary to it's function.

I've read somewhere that when Gemeinhardt changed the pitch of their flutes they just shortened the instrument and didn't adjust the tone holes to suit the new length. If this is true can anyone say the date that happened? If not true I'd like to know that too. I've recently compared a late sixties ...

Uebel flutes

I believe these flutes were made in the GDR. Anyone know anything about 'em? Well made or not? Is the maker still in business? Obviously the GDR isn't.
