When to change pads on flute? Plus additional questions.

Hi... I've had my flute for about 5 years now, bought it used. I'm not sure if they changed the pads when they sold it to me, but I haven't changed them since I got them. I started marching band using the same flute. Is it time to replace the pads? If it is, I have some questions.... 1. About how mu...

I need some advice for buying a new flute!

I've just considered getting a new flute, but not sure if it's worth it or not. Here's the situation: I've had 1 flute my whole life, the one I got when I first started band in 5th grade. I'm a sophmore now, so I've had it for 5 years. When I bought it it was a used flute. It's an Armstrong 104. I'm...

I need help ASAP! How do I fix my flute?

Please don't tell me to a music store to get it fixed lol, my playing test is tomorrow and I would like to fix it on my own today so I can practice :) The problem: The two keys circled in the picture aren't as "springy" as usual. They are too close to the actual body of the flute. (Keys 1 and 2 in t...

Alternive fingering for D-F?

Does anyone know an alternative fingering from High D to High F? I'm having trouble getting from D to F in 16th notes and keeping up to speed.

Thanks! :D

Have I achieved vibrato?

So here's the story... I was playing some of the songs I had memorized and playing of the other not memorized songs for my flute leader. It was one on one and I have to admit I was kind of nervous. I was playing fine until I got to this high D and it almost the end of the song. When I hit that high ...
