Moving From Flute to other wind instruments

I was wondering how smooth is the transfer from playing to flute to playing other wind instruments, such as the oboe or clarinet. How similliar is it eventually?

Thanks.

That might sound stupid, but Can i get every flute in gold? Because i mostly see silver around my area and i kind of hate this colour. Does every model come with a single color or is it changeable before you buy it?

Flute for a beginner

1. Which models are good and that can last long, also after the beginners stage?
2. Is the warranty important or useful?

Thanks.

Learning all by myself

I was wondering how practical is the idea of learning all by myself how to play the Flute.
Thanks.
