YPC 62/81 and headjoints

Hi everyone, I wanted to inquire to see if anyone knows if any other headjoints work with the YPC 62 body. I would love to try out Hammig or Bulgheroni headjoints especially, but want to make sure they'd actually fit before paying for a trial. Also, has anyone had any experience with the YPC 81? If ...

Re: High notes not coming out at first, leaking pads?

It sounds as if she needs to make a more focused airstream. But that's just a quick guess at what the problem could be. I tend to have my students that are starting to use that register learn to play harmonics, so that they learn how to manipulate their embouchures for the third register.

Re: High notes not coming out at first, leaking pads?

This sounds more like an embouchure control issue rather than a leaky pad. One quick way that usually eliminates that possibility is if the lower octave of the notes mentioned play. If the lower octave plays, then it might be helpful to get your daughter flute lessons, and work out with a teacher on...

Re: Is this a good school?

I'm a NCSA graduate (on oboe though), but have worked with Coelho many times through chamber music coachings, and of course, had many friends in the flute studio. He's a great teacher, tough, but great. He's the perfect teacher to whip you into shape. His regimen can be a little hard at times, but i...

Re: FLUTE RAIN COVER

Unless your band director is willing to pay for the repairs for your flute, the best rain protection for any wind instrument is it's case. Most bands that I've either been involved in or had students in don't allow the woodwinds to go out during the rain. But sorry, I've not heard of the rain cover.

They usually have some stuff. If not, place a Want to buy add there.

Might also be a good place.

As always, if you do ebay, make sure that they have a return policy.

Re: ...Some flute players are better than others, causing dr

I honestly think you did the right thing. In any professional situation, this would usually not just involve the 3rd player moving up, but the 2nd player getting fired or fined for not showing up and not being working when they are there. So kudos to you for doing the right thing!

Re: Di Zhao Quality Question

I play a DiZhao 700 (with C# trill, D# roller and split E) It's a great flute, and had a few flute choir members play on it, and they said it was great too. I'm really enjoying it, and used it at my grad school auditions (multiple woodwinds). It's got a great tone and scale, good projection, and I a...

Re: Question about Mozart Flute Concerto in D?

I can't remember which one of these gave a good character to it, but listen to these two. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhalrPzAfO8 (oboist from Sydney Symphony) It's in C but an oboist is always a good source to go to for this concerto! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1U5EPdJ1u8 (Nina Perlove) I j...

Re: teaching flute

I think that the Coelho's Flute Workout is a great book that takes you through etude-like exercises, exercises for articulation, long tones, scales and other things that will help with standard orchestral excerpts.

Re: Amadeus AF-900 (Haynes)

Give it time. I play tested some Amadeus flutes, and they played very well for me, all the way up to high D. For me, they had a big sound, and very focused. I wasn't pleased with the feel of the keywork, which could be just a matter of how it was set up at the store...Make sure there are no leaks. T...

Re: In search of the alto

I actually own a Venus Sax, Flute (that I'm not using much any more. A friend is letting me borrow her Altus), and Picc. All of which surprised me in terms of playing. I wouldn't recommend them to a professional player, but for things like flute choir, community orchestras/bands, etc. I wouldn't hes...
