I do these little exercises at the beginning of my practice session and at the end. If I go over one hour I do it also in the middle. It doesn't take much time, but I feel it helps!

I don't think it really matters how big belly you got. I am very thin, but I think I have enough air to play long phrase. Anyway the secret is not to waste too many air unnecessary.
