When I purchased it the seller had described it as just solid silver- so I was surprised when I saw the engraving R Au 9ct R. The Au is the metal name for gold. So it's a lovely surprise that the riser is gold!

Altus Headjoint

Hi All, Just wondering if you can help me out. I purchased an Altus classic headjoint (925 solid silver) off the net. Took a gamble but I'm happy with it. On the side of the lip plate it is engraved with R AU 9ct R. Does anyone know what this means? Is it referring to the riser? Also it does not hav...

Thanks for your answer. I've heard that yamahas are always good flutes.
I have been doing some research on the net and everything I have come across says not get an Emerson for an intermediate flute. Anybody know why?

Hi, I am currently playing a 17 year old Emerson student flute. I would like to upgrade. My budget is around $2,500 to $3,000. My teacher recommends getting a solid silver Emerson with open holes, b foot and gold plated lip. Just wondering on other models or do you think Emerson is a good intermedia...
