Re: Recommendations for Doubler?

If I was looking at using a flute only for doubling or in pits, and not as my main instrument, I'd be looking at: 1. Yamaha 221/225 2. Jupiter 507 3. Di Zhao DZ-200 4. Pearl Quantz 505 with the plateau key option I have played/owned the first two and have heard great things about the other two. Real...

Re: Questions about some things that came with my new flute?

I would imagine the thing pictured above is to clear out dust on your flute that gets in between keys. I have never used one in 21 years of flute playing, so probably not essential. As for plugs, the Powell Plug O's are super nice and should fit your flute. They are very pricey though. Otherwise, wh...

Re: D Flat piccolo? ??

If you watch carefully sometimes you can find an old one on eBay for a nominal amount of money. Be prepared; most will need extensive repair work as they are usually very old instruments and not in good working condition. I have a friend who got one for under $75 and put a little bit of money into i...

Re: Selmer USA FL-300

It's actually what the seller said it is, a standard student model flute. I owned this flute for a few years in high school and although they don't get very good reviews, I actually didn't have too many issues with it. Is it the best flute? No, not by a long shot. But for what you paid, you could do...

Re: Primo Sankyo Artist Flute bought in 1992-Value???

Appraised value will likely be higher than what you can actually sell it for. I did a quick search on eBay, and the newer 401's (the model that replaced the Artist) go for more money than their predecessors. I would guess you may be able to sell it in good condition for somewhere around $2500 or les...

Re: Starting to look for a (used) flute

FWIW, Winds101 on eBay has a Sankyo Etude in great shape in your price range. They are very reputable. You also get 14 days cash back.

There are also a few very nice Muramatsus in your price range, albeit closed hole.

Again, good luck!

Re: Starting to look for a (used) flute

Good luck in your search. Here is what I can tell you from my own experiences: 1. I own a lower end Guo flute. I only use it for outdoor concerts. I would not consider it for my main instrument. It is great for what I need it for. Now, if you are considering one of their Grenaditte flutes, that may ...

Re: Beware Fake/Counterfeit Yamaha flutes on eBay

Bumping this thread. Many more fakes on eBay, with blatantly wrong logos. I tried reporting one last night but it sold for almost $200 with several bids. Ugh. Reported two more I noticed today. BUYER BEWARE!

Re: Guo Tocco Plus?

gerardo1000, I did buy the Guo flute. I do like it for what it is, but I am unsure how long I will keep it as well. It is neat for what it is, and the sound is different. However, I also struggle with the headjoint. I recently switched flutes to a Muramatsu EX and have heard over and over how diffic...

Re: Age of a used Muramatsu flute

Maybe if you contacted Muramatsu America they would be able to help you? I can tell you that my headjoint is marked with a hallmark and the model (EX) is on the body and precedes the serial number. There are no numbers on my headjoint. However, mine is the only Muramatsu I have seen in person and so...

Re: Opinions on a different flute?

fluteguy18 thank you for the advice. I know I can email them and ask but do you by any chance know if the Powell Plug-o's fit Sankyo? Most other commercially made hole plugs fall right through, indicating to me that the holes are maybe larger than standard? This is probably what is also contributing...

Opinions on a different flute?

Hi all, I currently play a Sankyo SilverSonic (equivalent to the CF-301) made in 1985. Silver head, body, and foot, plated mechanism. It has a high-wave headjoint, open holes, c foot, and inline g. I loved it when I first got it because I had moved up from a Yamaha YFL-481 which was a good workhorse...

Re: Guo Tocco Plus?

Funny you should mention the Nuvo. I am planning on buying my kiddo one if she ever expresses any interest in flute! Probably have to be pink, though. :)
