Re: Please recommend me some Beautiful Flute Concertos!
I love me some good flute concertos. :) I personally really enjoy the Ibert Concerto and the Khachaturian Concerto. The Khachaturian is originally a violin piece, but Jean Paul Pierre arranged it for flute. It's an amazingly difficult piece, both technically and musically. Keep in mind that the enti...

Re: Best Player
Emmanuel Pahud is an absolute beast and probably my favorite, but I also really enjoy listening to Carol Wincenc, Greg Pattillo, James Galway, and Denis Bouriakov. They are all great, great players.

Re: Please help me! URGENT!
I would suggest playing a section out of the Mozart Concerto in G. Just a thought: Something in a minor key would appeal to me more than a major key as long as it didn't get too weird. If you did this, look into playing something out of the flute transcription for the Khachaturian Concerto. It's act...

Low register help
Hi! I'm having trouble getting the 'pop' I want in the low register of my flute. I play on a Yamaha 584. I would really appreciate if someone could post anything that could help improve it other than getting a new flute. Thanks!

High School Flute Competitions
Does anyone know of any high school flute competitions that have cash prizes? National competitions or Texas competitions would be the best.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Double tongue
Double tonguing is a very important skill to master for any flute player. Like most other things, it takes a lot of practice to do well. When I first began to learn how to double tonguing, I was in the same situation you are in right now. I couldn't tongue more than a few notes without getting an od...

Who are some good flute professors?
Hi, I'm a sophomore all-state flute player from Texas. I've been seriously considering the option of becoming a music performance major in college, so it would be really helpful to know about some of the better flute professors in America. The only ones that I'm aware of are Amy Porter at Michigan, ...
