If it's true that you're having a standard, non-modified 228 model, the flute doesn't come with split E mechanism, AFAIK. I currently have the same flute of brand and type you have. But I can't find the "E" designation anywhere on mine.
I am a beginner, but so far I can tell you that the flute is pitched in C. Yeah, a normal flute...

I haven't tried any Jupiters before, but as I read some reviews here and there, I found that they are a good choice.
