Poll- What kind of flute do you have?

Yes, the price did play a factor but the Muramatsu EX was 2750.00 and the Yamaha 561 was 2200.00 and we did not hear a 500.00 difference and 500.00 is a lot of money to me LOL I am not sure where you can find the 500 series for under $1500.00 unless it is the Allegro series...those run about that pr...

Emily~ I agree :)I think that there are a few teachers out there like that though in fact I met one for myself just last year. I think in general people are brand loyal and the older you get the more set in your ways you get also. Kim
---------------- On 2/24/2004 6:17:51 PM I find it kind o...

Lower Notes

Oh and I forgot to add that when playing the low notes try
to direct more air into the tone hole rather than across it. Kim

Lower Notes

For me working in the lower register requires a more
relaxed embochure. I would suggest working with long tones a bit. This way you
can play with each note for a bit and try to find your sweet spot. The Trevor
Wye Tone book is also great :) Kim

Posture

I agree. I seem to have a problem with my shoulder getting sore if I don't practice regularly. I instantly know that my arm is dropping because I will notice my tone slowly getting rough because the flute is dropping and of course the tone hole moves right along with it LOL Kim
HOlding the ...

Posture

I was taught many years ago that the flute should be played
parallel to the ground. I remember my band teacher would walk through the flute
section and take a finger and lift up the ends of flutes that were not level.

flute for college

Hi~ I don't know if you plan on a flute major in college or not, but I have read that it is a good idea to talk to your professor to see what they would recommend. I know that my daughters teacher bought a new Muramatsu when heading off to college only to find out that her teacher doesn't like it an...

What is your favorite style of music to play ?

I have really noticed
that I prefer slower music. Something that tends to flow helps me to get a
feeling for the music rather than just playing notes. So you notice that you
tend to enjoy one style of music or others ? Kim

Poll- What kind of flute do you have?

Thanks, I figured better safe than sorry when going with the Offset G. The 561 was replaced by the 674 which is solid silver also. It appears that the difference between the 2 are the headjoint and the split E. I don't know about it being termed an intermediate flute. Everywhere I have looked consid...
