Hi. Well the Hindemith Acht Stucke are 8 little pieces (half a page - a page and a half). They're all unaccompanied and they're quite quirky and really fun to play. Some of them are only around 30 seconds long and some of them are quite tricky. Well worth having a look at I think :)

Hi. Well the pieces are coming along at different times, I knew the Cantabile et Presto a long while ago and learnt the C.P.E. Bach last year but I am using them for an exam I'm sitting in Aug/Sep so I'm keeping them up to standard and you always learn new things. I learnt the Roussel and Hindemith ...

Hi, I noticed that you have a Lafin headjoint. I have heard some wonderful things about them lately and just thought I'd see what you thought of them?

Hi. I know exactly what you are going through because I have exactly the same problem. It's terrible! I'm at uni studying flute performance and it is an absolute nightmare, and I have tried everything. I got my lip plate engraved, have tried every tape known to man - shiny sticky tape, matte finish ...

Gizmo Key (B Foot Joint)

It can be used for a clearer high C, I have experimented with it a bit and used it for other notes to make them clearer, I think it was high A flat, u can try and see if it works for u, it worked for me well, but I've often struggled with that note, if I were to play C or A flat in a piece, I wouldn...

Flute Solo Suggestions

I'm not sure exactly of your grading, but maybe you would like to consider Quantz's Concerto in G major, or Mozart's Concerto in D major. I played Syrinx for an audition recently. There are technical parts in it, but good tone is also very important for it, as it is in all pieces. There are loads of...

What do you think about Armstrong flutes?

Well just to add a bit more to this scenario, I honestly don't like Gemeinhardts, lol. I have a student Yamaha as well as my Trevor James flute (which is gorgeous, had to add that) and I really like the Yamaha. It's a well made flute that has served me for over 5 years without any problems. Though w...

What kind of flute do you play ?

I play a Trevor James Virtuoso II and I think its amazing. Its solid silver, open hole, has a B foot, split E, contoured lip plate and I love it to bits! It sounds great. I got it about 6 months ago. I play my student Yamaha flute and feel sort of held back then I pick it up and play and I feel that...

The only way to judge your
flute with others to see if it has a good sound is to play others. Go to a music
shop, take your flute. Try a lot of different flutes and play yours then
compare. See what you're comfortable with and what sound u like. Thats the only
advice I can really give you :)

thoughts on this gold flute...

oh, and Amber, with the tuning, its quite normal for an intermediate or professional flute to be tuned to A=442. My flute is and although I have to do a bit more adjusting when I occassionally take it to school it sounds brilliant, and its an amazing solo instrument too. Don't be put off by that sty...

thoughts on this gold flute...

Well pricewise, u do see 14kt and 18kt gold flutes for over $20,000, and secondly its platinum, a more expensive metal. Personally, I would never buy a flute without playing it, especially off eBay, even though they do have a site garantee. I don't think anyone looking for a flute of that quality an...

How many flutes in your band ?

We have around 1400 people at our
school, yet we only have 7 flutes in our highest band, and around 8 in another,
plus beginners learn, but thats all grades. Next year as I mentioned above,
there is going to be a cut, to possibly 4, maybe 5 in our highest band.

How many flutes in your band ?

reading the rest, I couldnt be exact on
how many people there are, but in the particular band I'm in there would be
around 50 people I'd guess, and that would be pretty close. [8)]
