Thanks for your encouraging words. I really do
need to be more patient. You've also reminded me to go buy some earplugs.
Thanks again! Gerry G

Piccolo - Reality Check
Thsnks so much for your reply. I haven't been on this site recently so I just read your message. I still have trouble getting the highest B and C to play - I can hit it if I really attack with the tonguing and blowing but can't hold it for more than a second or two. I will keep trying - I really eno...

Finally hit that C
Thanks, It all seems to come in time. I've learned
to be more patient and experiment a little with my embouchure. Practising in
front of a mirror really helped me see what worked well and what didn't. Good
Luck to you. Gerry G

Middle-aged flute player wannabees
Hi, I played trumpet for 8 years in grade school ('59 - '67) and high school and really loved it. All these years I've missed playing in a band and always liked the idea of learning flute and piccolo. About 1 year ago I bought a flute and a picc and have been teaching myself as a hobby at home. At f...

Tuners
What is the general feeling on the usefullness of tuners? Do you
just play along and watch the tuner for an indication of whether or not
you''re sharp or flat? Is it worth buying the cheaper ones - $20 - $40? Gerry

Piccolo question
I've been teaching myself flute and piccolo for the last year as a hobby (I'm 54 - played trumpet in school!). I found the following article very helpful - it's not easy finding tips and information on playing piccolo. http://www.piccoloflute.it/Contributi.htm I also bout the Trevor Wye piccolo prac...

Piccolo High Register
I''d like some advice. When playing piccolo I can play up to the highest A without much problem but continue to have a lot of problems hitting B flat, B and C. The worst is B. Since I can hit the other notes, I''m guessing it''s not my piccolo (only 1 yr old - Gemeinhardt 4PMH). Does it sound more l...

Thank you both - when I played trumpet there were never any

Advice on Scales
Hi - I havea question about what things are best to learn when teaching yourself to play flute and piccolo. I''m 54 and have been teaching myself flute and piccolo for almost a year as a hobby. I might someday want to join our community band but now I just play along with the University of Illinois ...

Courtney - I just realized you said "beyond the high
C". I can't imagine notes that high. I'd be afraid I'd shatter the windows in
my house. How high can a piccolo go on the scale? Gerry G
