What do you teach a 7yr old?
Hey all! My 7yr old sister decided she
wants to play flute. I have my old close-holed flute but it''s a little to big
so I thought I could just teach her how to read music and stuff. Does anybody
have any suggestions on what I could teach her?

Breath Marks
If you take nice full breaths on the breath marks then you
won't need to breath outside them. My teacher calls taking short breaths when
your not supposed to "hiccup breaths"[::)]

Don't use cork
grease for the joints. It builds up and just makes it harder to put together.

blood rushing to your feet?
Sometimes when I play the flute for a long
time, my feet start feeling like itchy and tingly like blood is rushing to your
feet or something. Anybody ever heard of that or know how to stop it? Thanks! (
I practice while I''m standing up all the time cause it makes breathing
easier)

Flautist or Flutist?
Is there a difference between flutist and flautist?
And if there there is what is it? I''ve got the impression that a flautist is
a male flute player and flutist is a female flute player. Is that true?
Thanks!

Clean your flute real well. Get a polishing
cloth and cleaning rod, but do not use cork grease or key oil! If you go to a
local music store they sometimes have little packets for the flute or if you ask
them they'll give you the right supplies.

Bored or Frustrated with your Band?
I was in a band like that. I was first chair. It was waaay to easy. It was a beginner band and the students practiced about half hour a week. The directer didn't really do anything about it,so, I finished the band year and I decided not to go back. It was pulling me down and it took up a lot of my p...
