This is an old thread, but I thought I would share something that I do when I run into problems with a short passage like that. I practice it backwards! I will start with the last two notes, then play them (forwards) until my fingers feel good, then I will add on the 3rd to last note, and play the l...

Recording at Home

I know there is a similar thread just below, but I think my situation is different enough to warrant a new post. Anyway, I want to record more at home for my own personal use, and perhaps to share on a music site or two. The people who use the sites are friends, so they will understand if it isn't s...

Changing the email address on my profile

I registered a new name because I had forgotten my old one, but found the old one soon after. I want to change the email address on my old profile because the old one doesn't exist anymore, but I can't because my new name has that address. Did I explain that well? Can someone please help?

Britten's Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes

Has anyone played the solo in Sunday Morning? I have to perform it soon and would love to hear other people's experiences with it.

Try practicing in front of a mirror. Not only will it help you control your fingers, but it should have a great effect on your overall technique.

My teacher did a recording with guitar. I am biassed, but I love it! It's available on Titanic records. It is Virginia Sindelar and I think you can even get it on iTunes. You can definitely get it on Amazon. There are a lot of other pieces on it that you will find familiar. That recording is of Hung...

My teacher was a student of Baker, and the technique she taught me was not quite cheek vibrato, but there was a similar idea to it. It is difficult to explain without demonstrating, but the vibrato still comes from the diaphragm and the cheeks are very loose. This is something that most student play...

I have had my Pearl for over ten years now and I have only needed to have it overhauled twice. The second time wasn't even a complete overhaul. Needless to say I am a big fan, then. Whenever I play for people in auditions or any other setting, no matter how well I play the notes (I could be sightrea...
