Should I wait to sell my flute?

Hi all, I purchased a new flute and am now ready to sell my Pearl Maesta Pristine. But I have noticed that it has gone up in price, quite substantially, from when I purchased it a couple of years ago. So my question: Would it be wise to hang on to it? Will I be able to get more money for it in a cou...

Re: Dropping Gold Prices

I would think the manufacturers would take more advantage of the drop, keeping more of the profit, at least initially, instead of passing it on to the customer.

If gold continues to drop, I would assume we might see a slight drop in flute prices maybe in a year or so.

Re: Headjoint/Body Pairing

Well, I figured out what needs to be done. It is not the weight of the 14k gold headjoint that is bothering me, but instead it it the weight of the 9k Brannen body. Bummer! I tried the Lafin HJ with my Pearl Maesta body and oh.. what a relief. To bad because I just love the sound and feel (mechanism...

15/85 Brannen

Has anyone tried one?

If so, what do you think?

Re: Silver Brannen Body versus Gold Brannen Body

Thanks Zevang, It is not so much the sound, although it is very interesting to me that I originally was on a quest for just a headjoint to fit onto my Pearl Maesta body. The headjoint is awesome, but it really came to life when paired with the gold Brannen body. I'm not sure if it was the smooth mec...

Silver Brannen Body versus Gold Brannen Body

Hi all! I am trying out a used 9k Brannen Body with a new 14K Lafin Headjoint and have only until the end of this week to return the Brannen body. After that it is mine! The body plays so heavenly and works well with the headjoint, the headjoint is a little heavy though and I'm hoping to get used to...

Re: Headjoint/Body Pairing

Hello again, Well I haven't actually weighed my headjoints, but I can tell for sure that my new 14k gold Lafin headjoint does weigh more than my silver head joint. I talked with someone regarding Lafin headjoints and they told me that they do weigh more than most other headjoints. I have it paired w...

Re: Flute Overhaul

Thanks so much fluteguy. The flute, I was told was hardly played and stored in a closet for a long time. It was made in 1996. What was a little odd was that although I was told this, the case seemed worn. A little too worn, imo, to have not been played very much. It did play quite nicely though. Any...

Re: Headjoint/Body Pairing

Thanks Pied Piper! It's late now, but when I get a chance I'll weigh both headjoints and see if they weigh the same. It could be that it is the crown or that it is in my crown! :) FYI, I did try a 14k Brannen flute body along with my new headjoint, for fun, it too at the time felt a little heavier, ...

Headjoint/Body Pairing

Well I did it.. bought a 14k Lafin headjoint that I absolutely love. Now I'm feeling I need to upgrade my flute body to match, at least the weight of the headjoint. Is this a real issue or is it me just getting used to the flute feeling a little "top-heavy"? Is it okay to pair a heavier headjoint wi...

Flute Overhaul

Hi There! I'm thinking of purchasing a used Brannen Bros. flute that has been overhauled. It looks and plays like new. But still quite spendy, since it is a Brannen. My question is this. The fact that it has been overhauled, does this compromise the flute and/or does it mean that it was not treated ...
