New Flute
I've finally bought myself a new flute after months of deciding. I've got a Yamaha 311 with a gold lip plate. It sounds lovely, I now feel like I'm holding back the flute rather than it holding me back. Plus it was a bargin only £565 (if anyone wants the shop name let me know). Practice is really fu...

I can only really justify spending a maximum of £600 ($1000). At the moment I favour the off set G, closed holes and I think I would like split E. Other than that I am openminded. I have returned to playing the flute after a 15yr gap (I was never very good). I feel I am progressing quickly but will ...

Thanks for the reply. I've tried to have my buescher checked but all the tech did was oil and rebalance the mech. It's an old flute (15yrs) but has not been played alot. My friend said she'll lend me here 211. The only reason I was considering the 311 is because a local music shop said the 211 wasn'...

Would a better flute be easier to play?
Hi, I am currently playing a buescher student flute and I am having trouble with mid octave B, C and above, sometimes good other times hard to hit cleanly. I am thinking of getting a step up flute (possibly Yamaha 311) could a better flute make these notes more consistant. Or is it just a case of mo...

Hi,
Could anyone recommend a good book on flute repair. I fancy buying an old flute and learning how it all works, but need some guidance. Ideally a book or guide I would beable to get in the UK.
Thanks
Nix

Breathy sounding
Hi,
I've returned to playing the flute after a 15 year gap. When I play the notes sound very breathy. Despite practice its not going away. Does anyone have any sugestions.
Thanks
Nix
