Metronomes are your friend! It's the only way you're going to get those sextuplets in time :D Set it quite slow to start with. Also, have you got a recording of the accompaniment? You can doownload a MIDI file of the whole thing from http://www4.osk.3web.ne.jp/~kasumitu/eng.htm <-- there! If you hav...

Timing Question - John Rutter, Suite Antique
I wasn't sure where this post should go, so I'm sorry if it's in the right place! There's a big competition where I live, and the first rounds are next February. I'm going for it, and I have to prepare a concert programme lasting 8 minutes. I've decided to play the Suite Antique, by Rutter, but I ca...

Sorry! Does it mean "sharp" - this sign? http://www.doubleclick.com.sg/town4kids/kids/music4kids/dictionary/symbols/sharpsign...

Finger pain
When I practise, the little finger of my right hand starts aching quite badly. I take lots of breaks, but it still does. What do you think this could be? Might it be worth getting it checked out? I hope it's not Repetitive Strain Injury or anything

Poulenc, Double Tongueing and Gbs - all the good stuff...
I'm currently working on the first movement of the Poulenc Sonata, and all is good - except the double tonguing section. I'm alright with the double tonguing part, it's just the fact that it's an upper-register Gb and it has to be played piano. No matter what I do, I have to play it loudly otherwise...

My first compositions were hopeless... it's just now I have to do one for AS-level music, so with the practise it's kind of coming together (althoug...

I don't really know what's been going on either, I
haven't been around here for ages [::)] But it seems it's all pretty much
sorted out now, which is good.

Mozart?
Thanks very much! I had a bit of an experiment today and double
tonguing certainly seems to be the best solution. I'll probably give your
metronome idea a go too; I've tried it with difficult passages noteswise but
the articulation sections could benefit too [:)]
