The piccolo was passed down to me from a family member as a gift, it came with only the double case so I have no idea what happened to the original, but I'm not really going to question it. As for the new flute, its a Jupiter 711RBSO. It was used gently for a year and fit perfectly into my extremely...

Cases

So in happiness, I just got my new flute. Much rejoicing. On the other hand, I play both flute and piccolo and currently only have a double case for my picc and the new flute doesn't fit into the double because it has a b foot and my old one has a c foot. So my question how do I go about getting an ...

hey I do have internal rhythm

So normally I'm aweful at keeping any kind of beat but I was practicing for my college audition and found out that I do infact have some rhythm in my head. This is one of the first pieces that I've played standing in ages and so I'm practicing that way. I totally blanked out and stopped thinking and...

I think your practice times are really good. My personal thoughts, and anyone feel free to correct me, but quantity of practice should come second to quality. Basically 2 hours of being frustrated will do less good than 30 minutes of focused work. Thats my thoughts.

Is there any easier way

So in Jericho fifteen measures from the end, the second flute have dotted eighth note A3 down to sixteenth note F3. My stand partner and I do have to play these instead of A2 to F2, and I'm having an impossible time getting my fingers to move on the standard fingerings without feeling like my flute ...

Strengthening the embouchure

I have developed a rather unusual embouchure because I have a condition called Congenital Bell's Palsy. Essentially it means that the right side of my face is partially paralized. I've had this sense birth, and wanted to know if anybody here has had any similar experiences either dealing with it per...

hmm... I don't remember how long it took me to be able to play that range. I know that the notes currently at the edge of my range are very hard to play without going up a scale to the note. You could check the flute to make sure there are no technical problems but beyond that keep practicing and be...

Is this the same video that was on the discovery channel? There was a segment on the tv show "How It's Made" that also showed a Brannen. I'm just curious.
I doubt the headjoint itself is to blame unless it's damaged in some way; I would think that, with a decent embouchure, any halfway decent student flute should be able to reach E or F easily.
Even a damaged headjoint (while a very bad thing) is not necessarily to blame. In hi...

I think yes. Just give it some time and practice and it should get easier.

Depending on what you are meaning yes or no. Let me explain, a better flute (better crafted) may help the notes to respond faster and more in tune. This is actually one of the reasons that I am looking into a new flute. I am playing on a beginner flute which I've had for 8 years an E.F. Olds NA77S. ...

Yeah... I learned that one the hard way. Most of the time I use the alternate fingering with R2 instead of R3. I can use either for it. I just don't know how to make it sound any better.
