Re: Have you Heard about the " flute plug" ?

I'm not familiar with this specific plug, but there have been a number of similar devices intended to replace the headjoint cork. These are usually advertised as a miracle that will suddenly make your flute sound better. I bought one of these many years ago. https://www.flutespecialists.com/product/...

Actually, anyone can try any flute they want. Most of the flute specialty shops will ship flutes to try at home.

That would have been made around 1957. Here is a list of Bundy Serial numbers.

Re: Intermediate flute shopping for my daughter

Both of those are reputable flutes and either would be a good choice. Your best bet is to have your daughter try them both and see which one is more comfortable to her. The C# trill key is a nice option because it provides some optional fingering for various notes.

Re: Used Pearl not giving some notes: Fix it or me?

The lowest C on flute is often difficult for new or returning flutists. Don't be discouraged. It's impossible to tell you what it will cost without assessing what (if anything) is wrong with it. It might just need some adjustments or it could need to have all new pads installed. Depending on that, t...

Re: Steriing

The fact that you can't find any information online about this flute should be a BIG clue to avoid it. I've played for more than 40 years and have never heard of that brand. Parts for that brand will be non-existent and many flute repair shops will likely refuse to work on it for that reason. Look f...

Re: New flute after hiatus

I don't believe that there are significant differences between the headjoints of the 211 and 312. As you noted, the 312 has a silver headjoint and the 211 is plated, but I believe that would be the main difference. Did you purchase the 312 new or used? Either way, it is possible that there could be ...

Re: Normandy flute - Serial #1086

I checked a few sources but I don't see Normandy flute serial numbers listed anywhere. Normandy was the student instrument line of Leblanc. I found some Leblanc serial number lists and if they were consistent between their instrument lines, #1086 would have been 1950 or earlier.

Re: Do I need my Pinky on certain notes?

The flute is balanced using three points: your chin, the first joint of your left pointer finger, and your right pinky finger. Once you get the hang of equalizing the light pressure across all three points, balancing the flute will be easier. There are only a few notes played that require removing t...

Your best bet is to play a little each day - even if it's only for a few minutes. That is far better than trying to do long marathon practice sessions once or twice a week.

Re: Need help dating my piccolo

The CW just means it is a C piccolo made of wood. I think you can use the 4W serial number chart. 2550 would place it in the 1981-1985 range. Since yours in on the lower end of that range it was likely made in 81 or 82.
