I started in 4t grade and I'm also currently a junior. But I know from my band that "junior" doesnt say much as to talent. If you were up to playing them, I would suggest, the Haruno Umi, which is a beautiful Japanese piece. Or the Concerto in D Minor by Danzi. That piece is very long and rather dif...

a good piccolo player should be able to be heard over (at least) an instrumentation of 10 flutes, 15 clarinets, 10 alto saxes, 5 tenors, 3 bari's, 2 bass clarinets, 15 trumpets, 8 trombones, 4 euphoniums, and 4 tubas. and yes, they're supposed to dominate.

Switch to an offset G?

I was just wondering at what level you play. I would assume that in a prefessional standard orchestra, symphony or band you would not be allowed to play a purple flute? I think i remember reading that you bought a purple flute because it stood out(did i imagine it?) but doesnt that kind of defeat th...

piccolo shopping

I just bought a new piccolo last week. I got a
Gemeinhardt 4S. I have 2 flutes and 3 piccolos now. All gemeinhardt's and I
have no complaints. The only reason I've gotten new ones is because of severe
weather damage and age. Hope that helps.

the only problem with doing that is if you simply write down the note names you still don't know how long or short each note has to be. Music doesn't only tell you what notes to play, it also tell you how logn to play a specific note, how fast, how loud, etc. Eventually you would have to learn to re...
