sometimes the problem is your fingers, not your tongue. have you tried reworking the passage all slurred? you'd be amazed at the little things that you don't catch when you put the articulations in. my teacher often makes me practice fast passages all slurred and then add the tongueing back in after...

you suggested. in the meantime (while i'm trying to get copies of that series)
i might start her off with an empty fletcher book that i have from years and
years ago.

yes, yes, and yes! i triple tongue when
confronted with fast triplet passages. i vary my tonguing syllables depending on
the nature of the passage. usually, though, i use ta-ka-ta.
