Most Dependable Flute Brand
It's not that I just want to upgrade just for the fun of it. I mean, sure, it's nice to get a new flute, but I have a reason. I'm beyond my student flute. Some notes aren't even coming out like they used to, and I just keep thinking that my flute (as much as I love it) is holding me back. My price r...

Most Dependable Flute Brand
Lately, I have been looking on the internet at various brands of flutes, but I''ve decided that the "pretty pictures" of the flutes just aren''t enough to convince me to lean toward a special brand. I want testimonials. Is there a flute brand that you have found especially dependable over the years?...

We're doing that piece right now (I have a picc. solo!!) and I must admit that I do not know the level. However, our high school band is doing it now, so it's probably not as hard as you think. But the song isn't super easy, either. I'd have to say that this piece is is "intermediate" level, and it ...

3rd Octave blues
You've only been playing the flute for 2 months?? My, my!!! It's impressive that you can already get E3 out!!! As for your "3rd Octave Blues," all I can say is that in time, you will be able to play those notes. You see, you can't push your embouchure to do something that it's not ready to do just y...

Hi! I was just wondering how many of you actually have
"flute surroundings," such as a flute choir, or a nearby university that has
flute activities planned. Just curious!!

Well, you can't deny that it isn't a beautiful instrument!! Yamaha is a reliable brand, as you probably already know. Have you had a Yamaha flute before? Maybe you should go to your local music store to try one out (same model number and everything) and see if that model of flute feels comfortable t...

32nd Notes?
Hello- I was just wondering if anyone really knew how to
count 32nd notes. I have an audition in a couple of weeks, and in one of the
songs, there is about 8 32nd notes in a row. I was just wondering if anyone
could offer me a counting method. Thanks!

It really depends on what type of flute that you are used to playing, I think. If you have just switched to an open hole (which I'm guessing your new flute is, if it's Muramatsu) flute, and this is your first experience with open holes, then I would say this you just need an adjustment period. It is...

Yes, I think it can definitely be a challenge to get
comfortable in band. I think that almost all flutes have had similar experiences
with surrounding flutes in band!!!
