It really depends on what type of flute that you are used to playing, I think. If you have just switched to an open hole (which I'm guessing your new flute is, if it's Muramatsu) flute, and this is your first experience with open holes, then I would say this you just need an adjustment period. Yes, I think it can definitely be a challenge to get
comfortable in band. I think that almost all flutes have had similar experiences
with surrounding flutes in band!!!
