I love John Barnes Chance's music. This is my second year playing Variations on a Korean Folk Song, so I'm pretty excited to be playing it again, but I kind of have to sit through the re-learning and the woodshedding of the Vivace section and the section at measure 140, since I transferred schools f...

Some more questions! Are there differences [mostly quality] between a Japanese-made Pearl to one that was made in the United States? Or are they all made in Japan? I noticed that they don't offer the Quantz series on their Japanese site, but I'm guessing their numbering system is just a little diffe...

I'll give you a warning on Gemeinhardts from experience. I play on a 3SB and it was nice to play starting out with it, but it's not very nice sounding in the upper register where the notes come out really thin, and with the repertoire I play now, I really need the upper register to sing, but the flu...

Looking for a site..
There was a site with a California University or Orchestra that offered Classes over the summer that you can pay for individually and attend any that you're interested in. I was hoping to go to some flute classes there, but I forgot the website. I think it was LA Phil, but I'm not sure.. probably sp...

District Band from 7th-12th grade, County Band 11th grade, RCC Honor Band 9th-11th grade, All-State 7th-8th grade, Rose Parade Honor Band 9th grade, and Top Talented 9th-12th grade. Last year for high school honor bands, but I'm too busy with school and work, so I don't have the time to audition for...

I don't think E3 is too hard for me to play. The complaints I have with my current flute is that some of the notes E3 and up (especially Ab, F#, and B3-C4) are very airy and it's not appealing to listen to. I can hit the notes just fine, but half the time it's just a battle to get a good tone from t...

Another question.. I've been playing inline G for the past four years, but I've been wondering about the Split E mechanism, especially since most flutes with that option come with the offset G. I don't really have much of a preference between offset and inline G, but what benefits does the Split E o...

Question about Pearls
Which of the models are handmade?
I'm not sure if the Quantz series is handmade since it doesn't say on the site. And is the CODA version of the Quantz, Dolce, and Elegante worth looking into?

Flute Conventions in California?
I was wondering if anyone would have info on upcoming flute conventions that will be held near the Southern California region. I'm planning on buying a new flute since I'm heading to college this fall (hopefully!) and wanted an upgrade to professional since my current flute is really limiting my pla...

I'm not sure if the vibrato I acquired is natural or not. I never really learned it or remember how long I've been using it (probably around early junior high, 2-3 years into studying flute) and I also never had private lessons, so I'm not completely sure what my vibrato might be defined as. I've ha...
