Re: Flutter-tonguing
Hi, I cannot Flutter tongue but my daughter can. It is kind of strange and gross how she learned but I will go ahead and share in case it may help you. To make long story short, my daughter has had lots of sinus problems and it causes lots of sinus drainage that caused her to clear her throat quite ...

Re: how is everyone doing? =)
<<How exciting! I'm looking into possibly auditioning for a Keith Underwood masterclass...though I'm not sure yet if I'm going to have time to go this summer, as it's a week long. I'm also being traded back and forth by two flute teachers...I studied with one last year for about 6 months before swit...

Re: Any insight???
<< Should I just call off the deal and wait for a legitimate inquiry?>> I would call the deal off immediately. I posted my daughters flute a year ago on that site and received the same kind of emails (many of them) . Since then I have read numerous stories of similar scams. I would check with local ...

Re: Intermediate flute brands?
I would personally stay away from the intermediate Gemeinhardt. I purchased a student Gemeinhardt and it was fine but the intermediate was not reliable mechanically. I would never purchase another one. As far as the Zeus. I have never heard of them so I would not even consider it. There are too many...

Re: Should the tongue touch the teeth?
Hi,
I personally don't touch my teeth when tounging. I have heard and read that touching the teeth is the "French" way of tounging. I don't personally think it is a " should or shouldn't ".

I was sorta thinking maybe only dedicated players were on here...well anyway I made it into honer band :o  [/size] Lauren, First you said that you didn't think that all the people that said they are 1st chair were being truthful and now you are implying that not everyone here is dedicated. J...

Re: When did you start playing your flute?
Hi Burke, No I don't really regret putting down my flute for so many years. It wasn't exactly a conscience decision...life just kind of took a turn and I was busy working and etc. It has turned out to be a fun hobby as an adult and it is so much different to practice now because I want to rather tha...

Re: M Series Gemeinhardt
<<I assume (you know what that will get you) that the 2 indicates student level and the 3 indicates conservatory level?>>
I believe the M2 is silver plated and the M3 has a solid silver headjoint.

Re: What chair are you/honer bands.
<<Everybody on here says they are first chair...I have a feeling that not everybody is telling the truth>> Lauren, Why do you have the feeling that not everybody is telling the truth ? There are a lot of flute players here and they are all in different bands..there are a lot of 1st chairs out there ...

Re: M Series Gemeinhardt
Hi, I'm looking for a beginner flute (used okay) and I see some listings for M2 or M3 flutes by Gemeinhardt. I went to Gemeinhardt's website and they don't list any M series flutes. Could someone enlighten me? Thanks for your help. My daughter used to play a Gemeinhardt M3. I purchased it new for h...

Re: Are Emerson flutes good?
I have never owned or played on an Emerson. I play on a Yamaha student model and my daughter plays on a Yamaha 561 and we have been very happy with them. I can say that Yamaha has a pretty good reputation as far as reliability. I really can't say much about Emerson except that I know that they are p...

Re: I have a ton of ?'s!
Well actually I only have two... What is a vibrato (sp)? What is C1? where is that on the scale? Is that EXTREMEMLY low? C1 is the is the lowest C. It is below the staff. It is the lowest note that a student flute can play. If you do a search using the search feature at the top of the page it...

Re: ..........

They can be very helpful especially if your band director is not a flute player. For example my daughters band director is a trumpet...

Re: When did you start playing your flute?
<<I got my flute on Dec 18th, and have been practicing ever since. I'm too new to even be a beginner, but the things I learned over thirty years ago seem to have stayed somewhere in my brain, waiting to be retrieved. _________________ Burke>> Burke, I have been meaning to welcome you to the board.
