Mystery Baroque flute...

Hi, I recently acquired an old one key Baroque Flute made by Roessler. It is made of what appears to be rosewood, is tuned 415 and comes in 4 parts. I have made some research and did not find any mention of Baroque flutes made by this company (they are mainly known for their recorders and have been ...

Hi,
I've recently sent my flute (commercial Haynes) for a regulation & clean-up and my repairman sugested
to lower the key heights : when I got my flute back the sound seemed to have changed somewhat...
Is it me or Does lowering key height affect a flute sound?

Re: Baroque flute embouchure vs boehm system embouchure

Just an update: I finally got the "twist" of the thing and even if my sound is not 100% clean,
it is really enjoyable...It is a very well made instrument:Everything works fine except the high E that does not come out!
I'll figure it out sooner or later...Thanks again for your advise!

Re: Baroque flute embouchure vs boehm system embouchure

Thank you for the info...I keep experimenting and I have read somewhere that you may have
to cover a part of the blow hole with the lower lip in order to obtain the desired sound (geez, that blowhole is awfully small!).

Thanks again!

Baroque flute embouchure vs boehm system embouchure

Hi, I've just acquired a beautiful baroque flute (Aulos,Stanesby jr.) and I find it difficult to produce a clean sound: as a 30 yrs flute veteran, I've tried to reproduce my current flute embouchure to the Aulos with a very "windy" result.. How is the baroque flute embouchure different than the mode...

Re: I want to sell my 1970 Haynes open hole flute and need some help

Hi,
your flute is probably a commercial model from the 60's.
For a price appraisal and a hassle free sale, look in the flute section on Ebay.
My guess is in the 1000$-2000$ USD range.

Re: C foot joint Vs B foot joint

Hi,
I find that the main difference between a C foot and a B foot(except the extra note)
is the tone color: the B foot gives a "darker" tone(more harmonics) but the C foot "speaks" better
in musical phrases. tell me what you think....

Re: Flute comparison help...

Hi,
in my opinion, there is no contest: the Yamaha 481 is the best mechanically and has a great re-sale value .
Of course, you should try the flute before buying it and bring your teacher for an objective opinion.

Re: 2nd octave rough tone problems

Hi,
I too struggled a long time with my embouchure: There is a great video by James Galway on how to
produce sound--https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcXRzZZv1mE.

Re: best flutist

I think there is no "best flutist in the world" per se, but I can share some of my favorites.. -Alain Marion was quite a player in his days (I love his Vivaldi flte ctos!) -Jean-pierre Rampal who made me discover this beautiful instrument... -William Bennett -Robert Stallman -Kudo -Barthold Kuijken ...

Re: I recently aquired a Sterling Silver flute?

Hi, "better late than never" -I just found a flute similar to yours on Ebay: It is a past auction but describe your flute pretty well: " Up for auction is an extremely beautiful vintage flute August Richard Hammig - "Recital". Solid silver is the head joint, body, foot and keys. Beautiful playing co...

Deford Silver Flute

Hi everyone, I just came across a silver-made Deford flute with an amazing sound (quite unique actualy) and great mechanism... I always tought that Deford flutes were of student-quality and did not expect this kind of quality from them. (It is of a par with my 1962 commercial Haynes). Does anybody h...
