Thank you Linda for your comments. As I play more, the high tone is sounding better, although not up to what I would like it to be. I appreciate your insight.

Poor Tone in Higher Register on Bass Flute
I am thinking about buying a bass flute. I am an average ability player, with no intention to play professionaly, just for fun. I like the lower sound of the bass flute. About a week ago, I borrowed a Pearl bass flute. I am planning to keep it for a couple of weeks, to get an idea of what it is like...

Missing Piano Accompaniment Parts from Schott Music
A couple of months ago, I bought a book of flute music with CD accompaniment titled “Baroque Play-Along” by Schott music, part of the “Schott Master Play-Along Series.” The cover advertises that “Piano accompaniments available as PDF files on the CD, ready for print-out.” I like the music, and the C...

How do I post a picture on this forum?
I would like to put a picture of myself, similar to many of the others I see when posting. I see in the profile, instructions indicate that the file must be maximum 150*150 pixels and 20KB. I have been using Adobe Photoshop, trying to make a picture this small. the pixel count is not a problem, but ...

Flute Workshop - Some Observations
Below, I have shown some of my observations. They are not meant as questions, only my own observations and opinions. I have been playing flute for about four years. I play rather well for a typical community band player, but not to the ability of many people on this forum. I will probably never beco...

Where can I find QUALITY arrangements of Disney music?
I recently heard a cello solo with piano accompaniment playing "Feed the Birds" from "Mary Poppins." It was beautiful, classical style music, not the cheezy kids stuff. I would like to find some arrangements like that for flute. I really love the Disney music of the 1960's or before (When Walt was s...

I'm not as old of a coot as you, but hopefully I will be some day. I am almost 49. I played trombone for most of my life. I was good enough to get paid to play, but not a real professional. An eye injury about four years ago forced me to stop playing trombone. The pressure of playing was bothering m...

Should Flutes Get Wet?
I would think that common sense dictates that quality flutes should not get wet. However, when I play for a long period of time, a lot of water comes out of my flute. How important is it to keep flutes from getting wet, or even completely soaked? If I were to march in a parade, in the pouring rain, ...

I could be considered a "nonexistant member". I registered a while ago in order to ask a few questions about buying a new flute. I still read many of the posts, but rarely have anything to contribute. Being a mediocre flute player, I realize that many other people can comment on most subjects much b...
