I'm going to give you my "have you kissed your Gemienhardt today" speach. Unless you're a millionare willing to buy a haynes or muramatsu, stick with you're Gemienhardt. I've tried many upper and lower end flutes, and my Gemienhardts are the best flutes ever. My old 2sp that's been through everyting...

Tarnish

NEVER use silver polish on a flute! You will ruin it, nto to mention, it won't last, and even when done by a proffesional, it can eat through the metal of your flute creating holes where there shouldn't be any, and that is a bad thing, and I'm speaking from personal experiance here. Any music store ...

My Flute Rant

Okay, first of all, I totaly understand how you feel, and the most important thing to do is relax. I hope your test went well, but if not, you might be able to challenge the person. Seccondly, if the person was genuinley better (and I know it's hard to admit) don't be rude to them. I'm in a situatio...

new flute

I had that same huge list as I'm a jazz flutest, and I found it all in one flute for under $1500. I have a Gemeinhardt KG Special, mine is a little different from what they list them as, so I will be doing some research as to why mine says Custom. The entire KG series is really good though, so I wou...

First off, just because its used by proffesionals, doesn't mean it's good, and secondly, not all proffesionals use and open hole flute. If you're taking private lessons, you teacher will tell you when to upgrade your flute. Untill you can play at least a full two octave scale, or prefferably a three...

help with brand names for piccolo purchase!!

I'm going to give you my piccolo rant so that you don't make the same mistake I did. DO NOT buy an artley. I'be had mine for two years and in that time I've spent over $2000 repairing it. More recently I've had to begin fixing its tune holding dificulties by hand as I was spending $10-40 a week. I w...

Poll- What kind of flute do you have?

I play a solid silver Gemeinhardt KG Special Custom with gold embouchre plate, gold plating on the inside of the head joint, inline G, open holes, and low b foot joint. Although I love this instrument dearly, and it's the best and most versetile flute I've ever played (I can go from playing very bri...
