They do not drastically affect your playing, although it takes a week or two to get back to playing normally. I had traintracks, and now have a retainer and find it is easier to play without it in. Also, it easier going from brace to no brace, than when you just have you brace fitted. Good luck!

You will remember, you will be surprised when you pick up a flute. Anyway, a good teacher will soon be able to point you in the right direction. My friend gave up for around 10 years and she started again and she has improved by so much in a few months, so you can do it.

Whatever you do don't get a flute called a 'Blessing'. Let your child try out various flutes, see which they prefer. Don't buy them from supermarkets either, get them from a reputable music shop.

I have a second hand Yamaha 211 S, and it has worked perfectly, and it must be about 10 years old. I am going to be upgrading to a Yamaha 381 soon which will cost about £650 for me because of a scheme I can get it without VAT added. My teacher said that buying a new flute (the 381) would cost about ...

I disagree, I wouldn't use the Standard of Excellence books. For my they were just rhythms rather than pieces, and although my rhythm has become very good, I didn't find them useful.

HTML on/off

I tried to turn my HTML code in my profile so it would always show HTML. I changed it to on, but at the bottom where is says whether BBcode, HTML and smilies are on and off, it still says HTML is off. I have logged out and logged in again and this hasn't made any difference. What can I do?

Thanks, well you see, as from September I will be the oldest you can be, so I will probably move up a band/orchestra. I will see how it goes and I think at the moment, I will just stick with the band rather than the flute choir :)

Umm, if html is allowed you put your link and then put </a>

Let me try something:

<a href="http://www.fluteland.com">fluteland</a>

Ok that didn't work...I think HTML has to be on..but it won't turn on in my profile.

Anyway,I would be interested to know if that does work.

Yes, it does sound good, but the thing is that you have to go to every practice, you have to sign this agreement that you will, so I have to make a final decision before the beginning of August. thanks for your comment :D

1 or 2 bands? Will it halt my exam progress?

I have just found out that after my music audition I got into a band and a flute choir. I can do the band as it is at a weekend but the choir is on a Tuesday and transport isn't arranged. Next year is also my GCSE (major exams) year and I wouldn't want it to make me too busy to revise. However I do ...

I am grade 7 in ARBSM levels in England, I have no idea what level this is in other exam boards. (Here 1 is lowest, 8 is highest)
