Re: how to achieve the "harsh" sound?
interesting! I was looking through tutorial videos on YT , cause I have been trying to learn how to flutter as well and I've seen the two methods: with the flapping tongue and with the uvular trill through throat. I tried making em work but I couldn't get either one to sound good or any at all with ...

Breath Controller anyone?
wonder what's your take on breath controllers? such as Akai EWI , Roland ,Yamaha and others? I'm a fan of the band T square and am a synth guy in general, never seen/held/played a breath controller IRL. what is your take on those? what would be the best model that plays like flute fingering ? (I don...

how to achieve the "harsh" sound?
Hi guys, I've been wondering how to get the "harsh" sound (what's the term for it IDK) often popular in Jazz, Latin, Fusion etc. I don't think it's done by Frullato but I could be wrong of course. Because I couldn't hear the "Tremolo" between the notes all I heard was each note sounding like a homog...

Struggle with Breath Control
Hi guys, I have been playing Flute for 1 year and 1 month Currently I am practicing on my breath control but I can only sustain a note for a time between 7-10 seconds. I am doing long notes and this is only what I can achieve. Granted, I was kinda neglecting long tones cause it's boring, But since l...

Re: What mic/setup to record and amp flute?
Thank you. That was a good read. So basically he recommends the SM58 which is actually nice and not expensive. I always though the SM57 was used for instruments while the 58 for vox but I guess whatever works better in practice ... and Anderson speaks from experience. also, for strictly home recordi...

Re: Looking for intermediate flute to buy
Hey piped I bought the Pearl PF-500 new in the store in June 2019. AFAIK the flute is Chinese factory made but is designed by Japanese company, For example YAMAHA which is Japanese company makes all instruments today in China with the exception of the top of the line flagship instrument series which...

What mic/setup to record and amp flute?
So I sold my cheap recording equipment a few years ago after moving flats and in the market for a mic any advice as to which mic is recommended for flute recording? I know from my time in the studio the Shure Sm 57 is an all around good solution but I also heard this is not an ideal one, so... any i...

Re: Looking for intermediate flute to buy
I am sorry if I was misunderstood, English is not my main language. I didn't mean the key holes, but the breathing hole.. in comparison to other flutes which are standard and I had the chance to compare like YAMAHA and 2 other companies' models I forgot the name of. I am saying this because I gave a...

Hi guys and maybe girls (it's the internet so IDK) I have been playing for about 8 months now, and I am definitely feeling I am at advanced level enough to go buy a better flute. Re: Problem with Flute, how to fix?
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment and sorry for my late reply, I do not check internet forums so often. I ended up adjusting the 2 screws nearby and the flute works well again, I did experiment a bit as I was told turning it too far will mess up the setup. But since it was a good le...

Re: Introduction, and in a need of assistance plz
Thanks for the very helpful response my friend.^^ Honeslty, I'm surprised and angry at myself at the same time. Usually I always do an extensive research before I buy anything, especially musical instruments. The Price did seem suspicious but since I saw it was a YAMAHA and the model did check out o...
