Musical High Schools

Since I want to go to Julliard or a comparable school I think going to NCSA would give me a better chance to get into a music school. Do you think I would s...

There is really no use for playing with the plugs in. You should just get used to having all the plugs out, if you don't do it now when are you going to do it? Look in the mirror and see if you're covering all the holes COMPLETELY. also if you're stressed out then you will likely not get a good tone...

I think the most reliable student flutes are yamaha's. but you really don't need a yamaha if you're just starting out. Just don't get a Gemeinhardt because it's impossible for you to get out a decent one on one. I've tried 2 of their flutes and the sound was really stuffy and airy. Armstrongs are go...

the piccolo isn't that much different from the flute, all you need to do is blow faster air and have a more focused or smaller apeture (sp?).

Are Emerson flutes good?

My friend is thinking about getting an Emerson flute. Have you heard anything positive/negative about these flutes. Also he's thinking about getting a Yamaha. Which one would you choose.

You are never too old to start the flute. I know some 60 year olds that have just started the flute. If you stick with it and practice then you are going to get better and better.

Yes, this is sometimes common for a early begginer. You should learn to control your breath and don't blow in big bursts of air. You should also learn to take a deep breath (quielty) and control the air speed.

The Trevor Wye books are really good, and you should also look at the Moyse books for tone.

I have actually had a few songs that had a low B in it. The b foot also makes ur tone darker compared to the c foot. It also has a gizmo key on it to help with the high c.
