Bladibla- I'm sorry if I have been sounding rude and argumentative the past few posts. I'm not trying to be, but I'm sorry if I have been coming across that way. Collin Please, do not misunderstand. I'm only curious as to what makes a alto flute and bass flute different, and so, why would i think y...

Thank you, will do that with my warm-ups. I use to do that, but then we got into a certain type of warm-ups and certain songs, that I kind of quit doing that. Shouldn't of, I know...thank you for reminding me about it. Also, another thing to consider is when you practise long notes, add vibrato ont...

I personally wouldn't mind playing them. I've always wanted to hear what the lower octave sounds like on the flute.

Although the curved alto looks a fair bit ugly to me..

indeed. The probably best way to learn this is to get yourelf a keyboard, and look at the keys. You'll notice on it there is no 'black' key next to each of the Es. This means that when the score talks about E#, it is really just F. Another confusing problem you'll probably have is difference between...

There are some arguments about how the vibrato comes to be, whther directly from your body or from the throat. Personally, i think its a combination of both. To learn vibrato: 1). Remember that mastering it will take long, so you have to be patient. Actually, I'll go as far as to say noone has truly...

Re: To Picc or not to Picc?

Hey everyone! I am interested in getting a piccolo. I do not play flute for school, but for fun, and for church. I have played my friend's piccolo and really enjoy it. Does anybody have any recommendations on a decent (and decent priced) piccolo? If you're having problem getting good tone...

Hey there

First of all, kudos to you for getting to learn the (supposed) hardest instrument for 3 years. :D

The key trick with the higher tones is not the strong you blow it, but the change of shape of your ambuchere. try imagining blowing into a straw, and keep practising.

Gold is not necessarily the "best" metal for a flute to be made out of. You might like yours if you have one, but the "best" metal composition generally depends on what kind of setting the flute is going to be played in. If the flute is going to be used in an ensemble setting or for jazz music, a s...
