sorry to double post. I have 5 piccolos in my high school marching band. it is indeed unbearable loud and im getting earplugs. even if it doesnt ring my hears, i think just for the sake of not being annoyed, im getting earplugs.

ciggarette paper is like a dollar for 400 sheets at longs. (they're small but they work). although you can reuse them, for taht price, you dont need to worry about it. cigarette paper is always clean, but there's sometimes a gummed side that you really want to avoid.

im still looking for piccolos. one i tried recently that just blew my head off is the Roy Seaman LTD line of piccolos. Although list price is 3800 or so...almost everyone sells this piccolo around 1900 dollars (USD).

or you can learn to single tongue them. if you single tongue fast, then the piece will be easier to control (tempo-wise)

always start your practice on the flute first. Do long tones! They will improve your tone, or atleast keep the tone well. try not to play piccolo more than the flute.

of course one of the most famous flute solos in america is the Stars and Stripes Forever piccolo solo...but it might be kind of tough. I am also looking for piccolo solo music.

yeah, but i they dont ask about the purpose of borrowing, they rent them out. Im looking into a nicer piccolo for home/wind ensemble but i won't be able to purchase one for a while as I got a new flute and lots of other stuff

yeah. what happened to me was, i was doing it one whole at a time...and my friend (who is very good at flute and had played like 4 years before me) just asked, can i see you flute. so i said sure....then she pulls all the plugs out, goes outside, and trashes them. I was all O.O!!!! but it worked out...

if the concert has a theme...maybe pick something with a theme. a song im doing for a concert will be the chaminade concertino...but it's a bit difficult if you're in the first few years.
